ALEXANDRE CARRIER, 22 YEARS OLD – MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS (AHL)
Talking about Alex Carrier is boring, because it has created a huge expectation about him and today, his performance seems to stand still, and he even seems disinterested. Formerly the closest NHL defender, Carrier lost ground. Although his last season had improved from the previous seasons, it was not enough and has stagnated in the AHL Top 2 D. He had a bad season start, although he became an alternate captain playing alongside Jarred Tinordi. Only after Freddy Allard returned from the injury did things happen for Carrier and he still finished the season as the team's top 4 scorer with 37 points, but defensively owes a lot and still commits silly penalties. Carrier is NHL Draft 2015's 4th round pick.
DAVID FARRANCE, 20 YEARS OLD – BOSTON UNIVERSITY (NCAA)
It'smindblowing the fact David Farrance be ranked so low, behind Jérémy Davies in the Nashville media. It is not possible that only I believe in its potential and have realized that its growth curve has sharpened, especially last season, working alongside Dante Fabbro. Fabbro led the BU Terriers in points, and David Farrance was the second defensemen in points. Farrance is now undoubtedly the team's top defenseman and his responsibility will be even greater. Farrance is an excellent skater and is extremely talented offensively, creating great plays. As a Two Way D, he still needs to improve some defensive aspects. But he has been very disciplined nonetheless. Farrance in my opinion only lags behind Allard in the NHL race. The 5'11" defender comes from the NHL Draft 2017 in the 3rd round and will go on to his senior year in collegiate.
FRÉDÉRIC ALLARD, 22 ANOS – MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS (AHL)
Undoubtedly, Freddy Allard remains ahead of his fellow defensemen teammates. Despite losing a month of injury season and staying out of 11 games, his numbers were good like a good two-way D. Today it can be said that Allard it's the defenseman closest to the NHL. His growth has been great, his creativity making passes has improved further and at the end of the season, finished with 29P 4G 25A in 65 games. Allard is a third-round pick at NHL Draft 2016 and is expected to play in the first pair at Milwaukee.
HARDY HÄMAN ATKELL, 21 YEARS OLD – IF BJÖRKLÖVEN (ALLSVENSKAN)
Atkell played in the third to last season, making some good games. He finished the season with 6P 1G 5A. But for the upcoming season, he is expected to move up to second pair and start showing something else, since he had already made a beautiful one-timer goal in the season’s first game. Atkell is a fourth round pick at NHL Draft 2016 and the kid was once a sensation at Rookie Camp 2018/19. Now it's ‘’wait and see’’ how far it can go, but I don't believe that at 21, playing the Swedish second league is ideal for its development. It could at least be in Milwaukee, or even with Florida Everblades or Atlanta Gladiators, closer to our development coaches.
JACOB PAQUETTE, 20 YEARS OLD – PETERBOROUGH PETES (OHL)
His seasons as alternate captain of Kingston Frontenacs weren’t good, but I don't blame him it all, as the team is rebuilding. He moved to Niagara IceDogs and the things started to flow naturally to their full potential. To have an idea of this difference, at the beginning of last season he just got 4 points in 24 games with the Frontenacs, but in Niagara he got 23 points in 33 games. Highly disciplined, the defenseman has a good game vision and knows the time to attack his opponent. Still need to improve his shots on goal, defensively leaves nothing to be desired. For this season, Paquette will play at Peterborough, although I think it better for him have continued in Niagara along with Philip Tomasino, the Petes will be no problem for him.
JÉRÉMY DAVIES, 22 YEARS OLD – MILWAUKEE ADMIRALS (AHL)
Honestly, I don't expect much from Davies. The little I know about him I don’t liked, makes silly mistakes in the defensive zone, the only difference between him and Matt Irwin for me is the age. Davies is young and can grow in Karl Taylor's hands, but I wouldn't bet on that, even though the Ads coach has said Davies will be a key addition in Milwaukee. The Nashville media puts him ahead of David Farrance in the ranking of our prospects. I assure you that David Farrance have more potential, and lives a stable moment. Jérémy Davies still commits fool penalties compromising the team. Davies comes from the exchange that involved P.K. Subban for the New Jersey Devils and after completing his years in collegiate will be an integral part of the Milwaukee body of defenders.
MARC DEL GAIZO, 19 YEARS OLD – UNIV. MASSACHUSETTS (NCAA)
Prior he to collegiate, the player made good impressions at USHL with Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL) and in his first year at the NCAA recorded 29P 13G 16A in 41 games last season. If I were to rank our prospects as the Nashville media does, I would say he’s another player who would put Davies ahead of the potential. A player who contributes a lot in power play, since almost half of his goals came from numerical advantage. He has a good acceleration and skating. I believe in his growth. Gaizo was 4 round pick in the last NHL Draft 2019.
SEMYON CHISTYAKOV, 18 YEARS OLD – TOLPAR UFA (MHL)
Chistyakov is the fourth round pick of the last Draft, 2019. I didn't know him, but from what I could research, he made a great appearance at the last World Juniors. It gained prominence in the competition for dynamism at the blue line. It seems to me a player who knows how to position himself, generating turnovers and skates very well. He started his second season at MHL with 2 points from 4 games. We will keep an eye.
SPENCER STASTNEY, 19 YEARS OLD – UNIV. OF NOTRE DAME (NCAA)
His first year at the NCAA was dramatic, short of ice time, 4 points in 39 games. Stastney struggled to adapt to the collegiate, defensively still makes primary mistakes, and offers very little offensively or next to nothing. I do not think he will go very far despite the expectation that he can win more ice time this season. He was a 5th round choice in the NHL Draft 2018.
VLADISLAV YERYOMENKO, 20 YEARS OLD – DINAMO MINSK (KHL)
Despite some criticism, Yeryomenko in my opinion is better than some better ranked defenders in Nashville. I like how he plays his Two-Way D role. He skates very well, he is fast, makes good transitions and I think he has quick thinking when defending, even if he makes some positioning mistakes in the defensive zone. They made a statistic about last season, when he was playing for Calgary Hitmen: he recorded 3.62 goals conceded per game when he was on the ice, but if you look at his plus / minus, it's 8 positive, so for me this survey doesn't make much sense. Leaving for KHL, people believe their ice time should shorten; He did not start in the first games, but has been playing at the first pair for the last 7 games in a row, seems to be gaining ground and got his frst KHL career gal He was a 5th round choice in the NHL Draft 2018, and what a choice for me.
